The fresh elections for the executive committee of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) have been scheduled on September 15, while newly elected executive members will elect new president and other office bearers on September 20.

This was stated by Hussain Ahmed Ozgen, President RCCI here on Monday while addressing a meeting in the chamber office. He also announced the election schedule in the meeting.

He said that R. A. Zafar Chaudhry has been named as returning officer and Mian Ayaz Karim as substitute returning officer. Mir Manzoor Ellahi and Mukhtar Ahmed will scrutinise the nomination papers, while Pervaiz Humayun will assist him. Haroon Ehsan Paracha and Qazi Faiz were named polling officers and S. M. Hussain will be substitute polling officer.

According to election schedule announced by RCCI president, nomination forms will be issued on August 5 and voter list will be displayed. Objections and corrections in the voter list will be received on August 12 and final voter list will be displayed.

Nomination papers will be received on September 1 and after scrutiny on September 2 the returning officer will announce the list of the candidates. The date of withdrawal of the nomination was set on September 6 and final list will be displayed on September 8.

Polling will be held in the chamber on September 15 in which more than 1,000 members of the chamber will use their franchise to elect the executive committee members. On September 20 newly elected executive committee members will elect new president, senior vice president and vice president for the year 2004-05.

Addressing the meeting Hussain Ahmed Ozgen assured the members of the chamber that he would leave no stone unturned for holding the elections in a transparent and fair way. "I am sure that all the members of the chamber would co-operate with us in this process and would keep the dignity and honour of the chamber in mind", he added.
